169 16th Street Stop Work Orders
Architect: Karl Fischer
Owner: 15th Street Developers, LLC
5 story 25 unit residential building in the works.
Brooklyn Buildings Department Special Excavation Unit determined that a Full Stop Work Violation was necessary.
03/05/2009 FULL STOP WORK ORDER SERVED FAILURE TO PROVIDE PROTECTION TO ADJ FOOTINGS/MISSING GUARDRAILS
03/05/2009 STOP WORK ORDER PARTIALLY RESCINDED
03/05/2009 FAILURE TO PROVIDE PROTECTION TO ADJ FOOTINGS/MISSING GUARDRAILS/SECTIONS OF FENCE DEFECTIVE
The two photos below were taken from the 15th Street side of the block wide construction site. Looks like they are excavating around what's leftover of the Board of Standards and Appeals unapproved foundation. Quite a lot of the previous building's debris in the mix.
Anything salvageable from this beat the clock foundation disaster?
Haste makes waste, I'm afraid.

All the things listed on the stop work order is clearly safety violations. Someone can certainly get hurt if the rules are not taken seriously. In my opinion if you need to shut the project down until it's done right. So be it.
i just clicked the link and it looks like the SWO has been rescinded.
