FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDS TO PARTIAL BUILDING COLLAPSE 404 11TH STREET

12:28PM    CONSTRUCTION STOPPED     STRUCTURAL STABILTY AFFECTED 404 11TH STREET  AFTER PARTIAL INTERIOR BUILDING COLLAPSE .   TRAFFIC WAS STOPPED IN ALL DIRECTIONS AT THE INTERSECTION OF 6TH AVENUE AND 11TH STREET AFTER CONSTRUCTION KERFUFFLE CAUSES BUILDING TO SHAKE N' VIBRATE. THE BUILDING PROJECT HAS A PREVIOUS S.W.O. ON ITS PERMANENT RECORD.

VIOLATION HISTORY: 404 11TH STREET WAS SERVED WITH A FULL STOP WORK ORDER ON SEPTEMBER 26TH 2017 AFTER INSPECTORS BELIEVED THE REAR DEMOLITION WORK WAS NOT SHOWN IN PLANS.
HOWEVER ON OCTOBER 10TH 2017, THE SITE WAS REINSPECTED AND THE SWO WAS FULLY RECINDED AFTER THE WORK WAS FOUND TO CONFORM.

Oy vey. If it's not shoddy new buildings it's shoddy Alt 1 jobs exceeding the scope of work, working w. out plans etc. There's a recent gut conversion on 6th w. massive extension at back (sold for $2.3M) that has NO permits at all on record.
The amazing thing is that there are still buyers happy to spend millions on properties with dismal construction histories on record at the DOB. Sure, records don't tell the whole story (don't we know it!) but they often say Run! Run! Run!
